Claire qualified as a registered nurse in 1991 after completing her training in Staffordshire, gaining her BSC (Hons) Nursing studies in 1999. She worked in the operating department and neurosurgical wards at the Royal Stoke followed by a move to the USA working at the Rehabilitation Institute, Santa Barbara, California as a senior registered nurse, setting up and managing a new subacute rehabilitation ward.
After returning to England she worked in neurology and neurosurgery for 5 years and then began her specialist career in multiple sclerosis – helping to set up and develop the current MS service at the Royal Stoke Hospital.
She has been actively involved in MS research since 2009. She is a senior member of the team and currently involved in all aspects of MS care including newly diagnosed, symptom management and disease modifying therapies.
She is a member of the United Kingdom Multiple Sclerosis Nurses Association gaining her multiple sclerosis certified nurse examination in 2005.
