Nichola completed a BSc Hons Degree in adult nursing at Keele University in 2013. She has provided care to a variety of patients from all diversities, often in busy and challenging environments. She has previously worked at the Royal Stoke Hospital neurology ward and in Accident and Emergency. She has worked within the Royal Stoke MS team for over 2 years.
By attending relevant nursing conferences and study days, such as the Hitchin MS Nurse course, and completing clinical reflections she has maintained a personal professional portfolio. This, coupled with the research undertaken for written assignments, as well as her dissertation ensures that the care she provides is evidence-based in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Councils (NMC) code of conduct and prep regulations.
She keeps her knowledge up to date by accessing relevant local and national sources such as NMC, NICE guidelines and NHS Trust policies and procedures.
Nichola works as part of a large multidisciplinary team as well as autonomously during nurse-led clinics involving all aspects of MS. This includes newly-diagnosed reviews, symptom management, DMT assessment and monitoring as well as relapse assessment.
